Files with the YM extension are audio files. They were used on old Atari, Spectrum, and Amstrad platforms. Some media players can play YM files. But the format is obsolete.
If Audio Overload doesn’t open a YM file, create a file association. Right-click the file, and choose Properties. Confirm by clicking OK. You can also associate the extension in the Windows Registry.
YM files are on Linux, Mac and Windows. The creator of the format was Atari. Audio Overload by Richard Bannister can open YM files. Winamp, YMTOOL and Internet Explorer can also open YM files.
When double-clicking an unknown file, Windows checks the extension. If it recognizes the extension, it opens the file. If not, you get a message to select an app. Windows doesn’t have a default app for YM files.
You can use various software to open YM files. Audio Overload is the main program used.
