MapSource is GIS software from Garmin. It lets you view maps, waypoints, routes and tracks. It also transfers them to or from Garmin GPS devices. WLX files contain geographic locations in XML format. The locations use latitude-longitude. WLX files link to mapping websites like Google Maps or Bing Maps. They act as shortcuts and open the location in websites.
To install a WLX file in MapSource, select Preferences and Web Links. Click Add Web Link. Browse to the WLX file and click Open. The Web Link will install. Online WLX apps allow viewing, editing, converting, merging, splitting WLX files. No installation is needed.
If you get a WLX file, install it. Select Edit then Preferences then Web Links. Choose Add Web Link. WLX files store text and latitude-longitude data. Any text editor can open them to view and update contents.
