A web video text tracks (WebVTT) format is used in .VTT files, which contain captions and subtitles for digital media. .VTT files are supported by online video hosting services as well as multimedia players like VLC. Videos with subtitles usually have .VTT files. However, selecting programs to open .VTT files can be confusing. Many free online tools allow converting .VTT files to .SRT format, as many media players support the .SRT format. .VTT file formatting can be validated online using a subtitle validator tool. To do so, navigate to .VTT file, select “open” to validate.
