Files with a .VBOX-EXTPACK extension contain data on extensions for the Oracle VM VirtualBox software. The extensions packages can be installed by double-clicking. The VM VirtualBox software is used for virtualization – initializing guest operating systems. Installed extensions are viewable in the program’s preferences menu, Extensions tab. The *.vbox-exctpack files can be imported into VirtualBox.
The VBOX-EXTPACK files contain plugins, extensions of VirtualBox. They add new features or extend old ones. The list of extensions is viewable under VirtualBox preferences, the Extensions tab. The default software to open vbox-extpack files is: VirtualBox icon. There is no conversion for *.vbox-extpack files.
The subcommand will succeed even if the specified extension pack is not on the system. Use VBoxManage list extpacks to show installed extension packs. –force overrides refusals to uninstall an extension pack. It removes temporary install or uninstall files.
Browse the VirtualBox Extension Pack file downloaded from the site. Confirm the installation and click Install. Read and accept the license agreement. Enter your password to continue installation. After finishing, you will see a success message.
The .vbox-extpack file format is proprietary to Oracle’s open source virtual machine, VirtualBox. It contains software and drivers to extend capabilities, including USB, RDP, webcam, NVMe support, disk encryption and Secure Boot. It adds extra security features. The VBOX-EXTPACK format works with existing and future versions of VirtualBox. These files can be shared easily.
