The UEXP file extension is associated with UE Viewer Package files. UEXP files are part of the Unreal Engine system. To open assets stored in UEXP files, move the UEXP file and its associated UASSET and UBULK files into your Unreal Engine content folder. The asset will then appear in the Unreal Editor Content Browser.
When you double-click a UEXP file, Windows does not recognize the extension. You will receive a message to select an app to open the UEXP file. Windows does not have a default program associated with the UEXP extension.
UEXP files contain asset data for use in the Unreal Engine. They are packaged with UASSET files storing asset headers and UBULK files storing asset bulk data. UEXP files themselves are not meant to be opened directly. Their associated UASSET and UBULK files are required to use the assets.
