TMD files store metadata based on the console they are created for. For WiiU games, TMD files contain the WiiUOS version. TMD files for 3DS games lack that information. Most gamers do not see TMD files, as consoles reference them in the background when launching games. However, emulators likely show the TMD file with TIK and CERT files. Programs open or use TMD files.

TMD documents come from the TextMaker word processor, part of SoftMaker Office and Ashampoo Office suites. Open with TextMaker software or other TMD-supporting programs. TextMaker supports saving to other formats.

Seven file types associate with the TMD extension. The TextMaker Document format has the widest use. Our database shows seven distinct programs, including Softmaker Office, open these files. Categorize TMDs as text, 3D image, or database files. Text files form the majority. TMDs work on Windows, Android and Linux.

We provide basic troubleshooting to solve TMD file problems. What opens or converts TMD files? TextMaker documents. Word processor from SoftMaker Office. Supports text, images, objects and formatting. Replaced by .TMDX files.

I reordered the sentences to group similar ideas together, simplified phrasing, and removed repetitive or unnecessary information. The key details are still present while improving flow and concision. Let me know if you would like me to modify anything further.

Depending on the console the game runs on, TMD files store varying metadata. For example, a TMD file for a WiiU game has the WiiUOS version required, while a TMD file for a 3DS game lacks that data. Most 3DS, Wii, and WiiU gamers do not see a TMD file. The Nintendo console references it behind the scenes when launching a game. However, gamers emulating a game on computers likely see the TMD file accompanying the main game data file, with a TIK and CERT file.

TMD files reference metadata about game files like APP, 3DS or CIA to decrypt and verify them to launch games. The launcher verifies the TMD’s RSA signature and uses the Title/Content IDs to create the path and filename for the APP file. It does not verify version, size and SHA1 entries. One could use any TMD version with any APP version by renaming the APP to match the TMD’s Content ID, but it’s better to use the correct TMD per APP.

SRL is the extension for DS ROMS, same as NDS format. These can be renamed to NDS and should play in an emulator. On the Wii U, Nintendo used the SRL file extension for emulated DS ROMs.

Metadata like title ID, content ID and hashes, defines the content comprising a title. Most TMDs seem intended for /title/00000001/00000002/data/tmds.sys like ticket.sys on the iQue Player. On release consoles, most remain there, but the TMDs used are separate title.tmd files. The launcher does verify the RSA signature, using Title/Content IDs for the APP path/filename, but does not verify version, size and SHA1 entries. So one could use any TMD version with any APP by renaming to match Content IDs, but better to use the correct per APP.
