TAX2017 files store United States federal IRS tax data. They also store income and personal data. These files are created with TurboTax software. This is a tax preparation program. It is developed by Intuit. TAX2017 files may be encrypted. Encryption protects sensitive personal and financial data.
You can export TAX2017 files from TurboTax Online. To export, click “Tools”. Then select “Save your 2017 return to your computer.” You can open the exported file in the desktop TurboTax software. After completing your return in TurboTax, you can print and mail forms. Or you can file your 2017 return electronically.
With TurboTax desktop software you can import previous year tax return data. Import data by selecting “using a tax return that is on my computer”. If importing a 2016 TurboTax file, select files with “.TAX2016” extension. You can also import 2016 TaxACT and H&R Block .PDF files.
The default software to open TAX2017 files is TurboTax. If you cannot open a TAX2017 file, right-click it. Click “Open with” and select an application. You can also drag and drop the file onto your browser to display it.
