Device drivers used by Motorola cell phones allow the phones to communicate with computers and transfer files between devices. These drivers are typically installed with the phone’s software CD. Example driver files are “m56pci.sys,” a device controller, and “p2k.sys,” which enables file transfers between P2Kman and Motorola Vxxx phones.
Motorola Phone Tools creates communication between cell phones and PCs by synchronizing devices. Connecting phones to laptops allows internet access via cellular networks when WiFi is unavailable. It can synchronize contacts, send SMS messages from laptops, create ringtones and wallpapers, and transfer them to phones. The wireless Bluetooth solution makes Motorola PhoneTools more convenient on the go.
SYS files are system files containing code to properly load and configure Windows, used in MS-DOS systems. They can also be part of hardware drivers with instructions for operation. For example, upon installation P2KMan creates SYS files it uses to communicate with users’ phones. Official Motorola software also creates modem-specific SYS files to communicate with phones. M56pci.sys is used with the PCI modem, while p2k.sys is created by P2KMan for file transfers with Vxxx phones. SYS files are meant to be loaded and used by software, not opened.
