The same settings file can appear in multiple places. All settings defined in identically named files will be merged and overwritten according to rules. Any given settings file in Packages/User overrides every other settings file. In addition, Sublime Text maintains session data. Session data takes precedence over settings files.
Files with SUBLIME-SETTINGS extension are Settings Files. The software for managing them is Sublime Text. More information about SUBLIME-SETTINGS files or Sublime Text is on its website. Programs that support SUBLIME-SETTINGS files are: Windows – Sublime Text.
SUBLIME-SETTINGS files store configuration data that controls aspects of the Sublime Text editor. You can edit preferences manually using the Preferences.sublime-settings file. There is a default and user version. Edit the one in Packages/User.
To open a SUBLIME-SETTINGS file, double-click it. The system should associate it with Sublime Text. If there’s no Sublime Text, download and install it first. Then open the file. If there’s an issue opening the file, the antivirus software may be blocking access. Take precautions and scan for viruses.
