A SASS file contains Sass syntax that extends CSS. Sass helps format webpages. A SASS file cannot be interpreted by browsers directly. Sass builds upon CSS functionality. Users can work more effectively with stylesheets using Sass.
The Sass import rule allows importing SCSS and Sass files. Imported files are merged into one CSS file. Variables or mixins from imported files can be used.
SCSS syntax uses .scss file extensions. SCSS is similar to CSS. Valid CSS is valid SCSS. SCSS looks like: @mixin button-base() {…}.
To compile Sass files into CSS files, set the save location to styles folder. Search to edit live sass compile settings. Click Edit settings.json.
You can watch files or directories with –watch flag. This re-compiles CSS when you save Sass. To watch input.scss: sass –watch input.scss output.css.
Sass has two syntaxes. SassScript is the scripting language. SCSS syntax is most used and similar to CSS. Its file extension is .scss.
Partials avoid direct compilation. Add underscore(_) to filenames. Import partials like normal Sass files.
