Files that use the RGN extension indicate the Garmin Regional Map Format. The RGN file format allows devices running Mac OS and Windows to open maps made for Garmin GPS devices. Along with 255 other GIS formats, the Regional Map Format belongs to the GIS file category. Garmin’s MapInstall software handles these map files.
The RGN extension is used by 255 file types. But most are incompatible. The original RGN format was designed for Garmin’s WebUpdater software. Opening and editing RGN files requires that program in most cases. Our RGN file tools: Opener, Converter, and Viewer.
Associating the RGN extension with Windows software is difficult. Opening unknown files presents challenges. Many contain only text.
RGN files relate to Garmin software region data. Two other file types also use the extension – DDTitle projects and Championship Manager game data. The icon indicates GPS navigation and map files. Garmin devices use RGN files to store regional map data.
