PSY is a file extension for The Psychedelic Screen Saver Settings files. The format was created by Synthesoft. The Psychedelic Screen Saver is the most common program for working with PSY files.
To associate PSY files with The Psychedelic Screen Saver: Right click on a PSY file and select Properties. Go to the Change button to set The Psychedelic Screen Saver program to open PSY files. Select “Always use the selected program” to set it as the default.
The parameters in PSY files load into the Psychedelic screen saver file PSYCH.SCR. The values change the screen saver’s properties to display differently.

PSY files may not open due to: corruption, registry errors, incomplete installation, malware infection, insufficient hardware resources, outdated drivers.
To open a PSY file: Download and install a program that supports PSY files. Set it as the default application. Double click the PSY file icon to open it.
If it still does not open, the program may not be associated with PSY files. Go to the file’s Properties to associate it.
