PIP files store personalized settings for Microsoft Office programs. They are located in the Microsoft Office application data folder. The file name is the program name followed by “.pip”. For example, “Word.pip”.
PIP files use an ASCII format similar to Windows INI files. You can edit PIP files in any text editor. Some PIP files store compressed bitmap images in JPEG, JFIF, JPG or PJPEG formats.
To open PIP files, update the application you normally use for that file type. Make sure PIP files are not infected with malware. An antivirus program can scan for viruses. If your antivirus blocks the file, take precautions suggested by the system.
The most popular program for PIP files is Microsoft Word. But 2 other programs also support this format. See the Microsoft website for details on PIP files and supported software.
