The PDD file extension is most commonly associated with Adobe PhotoDeluxe Image files. Adobe PhotoDeluxe Image files are mostly bitmaps, images, graphical designs, lines, text, and layers saved in the PDD format by the discontinued software Adobe PhotoDeluxe until 2002 when it was replaced by Adobe Photoshop Elements. The PDD format is similar to Adobe Photoshop’s PSD format in that it can store the same types of elements. Though PhotoDeluxe was discontinued, programs like Photoshop and Photoshop Elements can still open, edit, and convert PDD files to more common formats. Files can also be opened with other Adobe software like Illustrator CC, InDesign, and Canvas X. Primarily PDD files are raster graphic files. The PDD format was created by Adobe Systems and is compatible with Mac OS and Windows software. PDD files are not frequently present on typical desktop or mobile devices.

A PDD file might instead contain data from a Medtronic programmer. This is a specialized computer for heart devices. The data could be patient session information or readings from an implanted Monitor. It is saved to disks for future reference.
To open a PDD file from a Medtronic programmer, use the Chronicle software. Go to the Select Model screen. Choose Devices, then Other. Select “Chronicle Read From Disk”. Follow the onscreen instructions to access the data.
