A PAM file contains video and audio. You cannot directly open and play PAM files. But you can convert the video and audio in PAM files to more common formats. For example, VGMToolbox (Windows) converts PAM file video and audio. You can then play the converted files in media players like VLC media player (multiplatform).
To create an ICON1.PAM video file for RetroXMB Creator, the video clip must be: In AVI or M2V format, 1920×1080 resolution. Install PAMFTools. Open PS3StreamComposer. Select “New” and name your clip and project. Accept default settings. Select “Video Source” and choose your AVI or M2V video file.
To view PAM files easier, set them to open by default using PS3StreamViewer from PAMFTools. We had issues with a new briefing freezing the game. PS3StreamViewer opened it fine, but the game froze. The audio length differed from the video length. That may have caused the problem.
PMF files contain video and audio streams in PSP’s proprietary format. They are also used to store published maps created with ArcGIS mapping software. Those PMF files just link to maps on the ArcMap server. They don’t contain maps.
Lande PMF Player is the default software to open PMF files containing PSP digital video. To convert to PMF you need to prepare the input video in specific formats. FFmpeg converts video to the right pixel format. PAMF Tools from PS3 SDK converts to PAMF.
