You may also get a P8 file by downloading a PICO-8 game’s source or from another PICO-8 developer. P8 files can be edited in PICO-8 to run and build games locally.
PICO-8 is used to program retro-style games played on its fantasy console. Its code uses Lua syntax and may reference sprite, sound, map, and music data comprising the game.
Problems with P8 files can often be fixed without IT knowledge. Get PICO-8 if you can’t open a P8. Check if the filename extension is misspelled. We found pi, po, pu misspellings. Be careful – harmful software can use .p8 extensions.
