OFF is a file format for storing 2D or 3D polygon models. It was originally developed for the Geomview visualization software. Simple extensions allow it to store higher dimensional data as well. Other software has also adapted this format.
An OFF file starts with the word “OFF”. The next line lists the number of vertices, faces and edges in the model. Color information is optional. The format is ASCII-based, includes 3D data, has no compression.
While there are extensions, the simplest OFF files have the structure above. Software called MeshLab, created by the Meshlab project, commonly handles these files. Blender and RoffView can also open OFF files.
Overall, 622 file types use the OFF extension. But most are not compatible. The OFF format itself was developed by an unknown source. Blender can view, edit or convert these files.
