Gamers can install custom Switch themes using the NXThemes app. Themes are saved as NXTHEME files. Each file contains an image and text to overwrite a Switch screen. When you double-click a NXTHEME file, Windows checks the extension. If unrecognized, it asks which app to open the file.
The NXTHEME file format lets you customize Switch screens. To open or edit NXTHEME files, use the Switch Theme Injector app. To remove a theme, select uninstall in the theme installer. You can install a new theme to overwrite the current one.
To make a theme, save each customized Switch screen in a separate NXTHEME file. After filling out details, save each file to a temporary folder. Repeat for every screen part you want to customize. The changes are saved in a JSON file that contains only the edits. This allows legal sharing of NXTHEME files.
