NRW files store image data for editing color, shadows, brightness. They also save edits separately so changes can be undone. To capture NRW files, select the option in a COOLPIX camera menu. We know of 2 NRW file types – Nero CD compilations and Nokia bitmaps. NRW photo files are large since they store high resolution data uncompressed. Their structure lets image changes be easily reverted.
Programs supporting NRW files can be found on any operating system. The files can be transferred between devices. Not all systems can properly handle NRW files. Windows checks the extension to open files. If unknown, it asks to select an app. So Windows itself does not have a default program for NRW files.
Google Picasa handles NRW files. Other programs are PaintShop Pro, ColorStrokes, Adobe Elements, ViewNX. NRW files have a typical data file structure.
