The NKSF is Komplete Kontrol’s file format used by third party plugins. Preset files have a .nksf extension for Instruments and .nksfx for Effects. The preset files and metadata are stored in a directory structure along with metadata files and a database caching names/banks.
NKS preset files contain: A Summary Section with data like author, comments, types, and vendor. A Controller Assignments Section storing pages. Native Instruments and other publishers publish presets in NKSF format for easy use in Komplete Kontrol.
You can open an NKSF file in Komplete Kontrol. Select File → Open from the menu bar and navigate to the NKSF file. Windows opens files based on the extension. If it doesn’t recognize .nksf, you need to select an app associated with it.
