MDT files are used to store Microsoft Access data, templates for earlier versions of Access prior to 2007, and geospatial data by the GeoMedia program. The latest Access versions now use ACCDT files for templates instead of MDT.
To open an MDT file, use Microsoft Access if it contains Access data or a template. If it is from GeoMedia, that program is required. MDT files from video converters may be opened with a text editor like Notepad++ to see the video location.
An MDT file might not convert to other Access formats. It is likely used internally by the program. However, the GeoMedia program can export data to other formats. An XML MDT file can be opened with a text editor and saved as TXT, HTML etc.

MDT files are templates to create geographic databases in GeoMedia. GeoMedia software allows managing geospatial data for maps. It integrates forms of this data into one map view. This enables processing, capturing, maintenance, analysis and sharing.
To open an MDT file, double-click it. MDT files define attributes, values, and layers of a dataset for an Access Database. They are like other GeoMedia templates – GDD and GDT files. But MDT files are for GeoMedia Access software. GDD/GDT files are for GeoMedia Professional. MDT files can also be used in Geomedia Professional.
