The KSD file format is used by the audio editing software Massive. Massive is a software synthesizer that generates high quality audio. It uses KSD files to save audio clips made by users. Only Massive supports KSD files. Massive was developed by Native Instruments.
In Massive 1.3 or later, you can open a KSD file. Select File → Import KSD Sound. Choose your KSD file and click Open. To batch convert many KSD files, select File → KSD Batch Convert. Choose your folder of KSD files and click OK. This speeds up the process if upgrading to Massive 1.3.
KSD files also store patches for Native Instruments programs like Kore and Absynth. Kore has a library of over 500 ready-to-produce sounds. Absynth is a synthesizer with unique sound potential and 1,800 preset sounds. The KSD format was defined by Native Instruments. KSD files are compatible with software that runs on Windows. Absynth is the most common program to handle KSD files. More information on KSD files and supported formats is on the Native Instruments website.

File extension ksd is used for KeepSafe, a data protection app. KeepSafe encrypts photos and videos. These files open only in KeepSafe. On Android, secured media is stored in KeepSafe\Documents\Media\.
After choosing media to hide, KeepSafe adds numbers and .ksd to filenames. This hides and protects files. For example, an image may save as 4743615774357373042.IMG_1247.JPG.KSD. The numbers are random.
Two software programs relate to .ksd files. One is KeepSafe. Files have low popularity. Please see below to learn more.
KSD files need KeepSafe Vault to open on mobile. Massive software also uses ksd format. This edits audio on Windows. Its ksd files hold user-made clips. Only Massive opens these files.
KSD files open in KeepSafe app. Also, Native Instruments plugins use them as presets. Click “open” in plugin to open file. The Kerbal Space Program also uses .ksd files.
