The .idea file extension has 3 file types. These file types include Adobe Ideas Document, Tresor IDEA Encrypted File, and IntelliJ IDEA Settings Directory. Adobe Ideas Document files can be imported into Adobe Illustrator CS5 if the Adobe Ideas plugin is installed. This plugin is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Plug-ins suite. NOTE: Adobe Ideas is now part of the Adobe Illustrator Draw app for iOS. File Viewer Plus opens over 400 file formats. Some programs that open IDEA files are IntelliJ IDEA and Android Studio.
If Adobe Illustrator is already installed on your system and IDEA files are still not opened properly, check you have the latest version of the software. Sometimes newer software versions introduce new formats along with supporting previous formats. Upgrading to the most recent Adobe Illustrator version ensures backward compatibility to handle older file types.
To associate IDEA files with Adobe Illustrator, install the most recent Adobe Illustrator version and set it as the default application to open IDEA files after installing. The main problem opening IDEA files is incorrect association with the wrong program. Double-clicking the IDEA file icon should open the appropriate application supporting that file type if there is an association between the file and program.
