An ID3TAG file is a temporary file created by MP3 Skype Recorder. This program records Skype conversations on Windows automatically. The recordings are normally saved as MP3 files. If there is a problem during the recording process, the MP3 file may not be properly created. This leaves only the ID3TAG file for the user. The ID3TAG file contains metadata about the conversation. But it does not include the actual audio. So the file cannot be used to recover a lost recording.
The Skype MP3 recording program automatically stores Skype conversations on Windows computers. If the program stops unexpectedly while saving a recording, the MP3 file may not be created properly. This event leaves only the useless ID3TAG file for the user. Since it does not contain audio, the file cannot retrieve the lost conversation.
ID3TAG files are temporary metadata files generated by MP3 Skype Recorder. They are deleted once an MP3 recording of a Skype call is successfully finished. If a crash or freeze happens mid-recording, only the ID3TAG remains. It contains data about the interrupted recording, but no recoverable audio. So ID3TAGs left behind when an MP3 fails to save are not useful in retrieving the lost Skype call.
The MP3 Skype Recorder program creates ID3TAG files to store metadata for ongoing recordings. Normally this data gets imported into the final MP3 file before the ID3TAG is deleted. But if the recorder crashes before the MP3 is saved, only the ID3TAG remains. Since these files contain no audio, they cannot help recover interrupted recordings. Their metadata is useless without the associated MP3.
