ID files expire yearly. They allow server access. The Domino admin creates them. Data is sensitive. Secure it properly.
You can view your ID file data. Open Lotus Notes. Select “File” then “Security”. Then select “User Security”.
If the ID is lost or password forgotten, recovery may work. The admin must enable recovery options. Open “User Security” and see if “Mail Recovery ID” is present. If not, no recovery available.
Programs that open ID files include IBM Notes (Lotus Notes). ID files store user identification data for IBM servers. They also work with Pegasus Mail.
Alternative software is available. However Lotus Notes is the main program. It works across Windows, Mac and Linux. HCL now manages it.
