The HOP file extension is created by Hippon SAS. Files with the HOP extension are Encoded Files. The HOP file contains data protected by the HippOnProtect program. Use HippOnProtect to open and work with HOP files. As far as we know, HOP files can’t be converted to other formats.
To open an HOP file, first associate it with the correct application. If that does not work, update the software that should open protected files. Only the current version supports the latest HOP format. Also scan the file with antivirus software to check if it is corrupted or infected.
If the HOP file is not infected, the antivirus may be blocking access. In that case, follow the suggested steps to allow access. On the Hippon SAS website you can find information about HippOnProtect and supported file formats.
Some games like SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom use HOP archives to store level resources. HOP was also used by THQ subsidiary Heavy Iron Studios for games like The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.
Many files contain only text data. To open an unknown file, first try opening it in a text editor. If that fails, associate the file extension with the correct software in the Windows Registry.
