The .gps file extension is used for GenePix Settings Files. GenePix is a program for scanning and analyzing microarrays. It was developed by Molecular Devices. The .gps files contain settings for acquiring, analyzing, and displaying images. Acquisition settings include which laser was used, voltages, lines averaged, and the scan area. Analysis settings identify blocks and features in the image. Display settings control brightness, contrast, and color mappings.
When .gps files are opened, subsets of settings can be chosen rather than opening all settings. GenePix Settings Files are binary files organized into categories like acquisition, analysis, and display. Alternative software can open .gps files if changed to .zip extension. .gps files have a “low” popularity rating. They are not commonly found on hard drives. Windows 10 users mostly create them, often when using Google Chrome. The GenePix program itself is the most common software associated with .gps files.
