A GCI file records a player’s progress in a Nintendo GameCube video game. This allows them to resume playing later. GCI files are often used to load saved games in the Dolphin emulator. To view GCI files, you need to know the file format. The format determines data storage. JPG images have a .jpg extension and a ÿØÿ signature. If the extension or signature doesn’t match the format, errors occur when opening or editing.
The GCI extension is for Grand Theft Auto 2 game files. The format was defined by Rockstar Games. Software supporting GCI files can be installed on Windows. The data is stored as game files.
If the GCI file doesn’t open in Grand Theft Auto 2, create a file association. Right-click the file, select Properties, and use the dropdown list. The window shows the file type and program to open it. Change the association with the “Change” button.
You may need to update your GCI file opener. Only the newest versions support the format. Scan for viruses with Norton, Nod32 or other antivirus too.
