The .fla file format contains graphics, animations, code, audio and other assets used in a project. It is an editable source file for creating multimedia content with Adobe Animate. Animate combines graphics, images and animation to create complex interactive experiences. The .fla format retains details, allowing users to modify the project.
To create an FLA file with Animate, select “File -> Save” or “Save As” as you create your animation. To open an FLA file, select “File -> Open” in Animate. Animate can convert FLA files to formats like SWF, JPEG, PNG, and MP4.
The .fla extension stands for Adobe Animate project file. It contains assets needed to restore unfinished animation work, not a final video file. Animate lets you create vector drawings, games, animations and more. Formerly Flash, the tool was created by Macromedia and merged into Adobe.
When you open an FLA file in Animate, you see a stage, timeline, panels, inspector and library. The stage shows the visible area. The timeline controls element timing. Panels contain animation tools. The inspector displays element information. The library stores media assets.
