FAL file contains header information of bitmap image. It is used with RGB file containing actual image data. FAL and RGB files need to be in same folder to open image. When FAL file downloaded from internet, error can occur resulting in incomplete file. Try downloading again. Check if user has administrative rights to open FAL file.
Windows examines filename extension when double-clicked. If extension recognized, file opens in associated program. If not, select program to open FAL file.
FAL files supported on Mac OS and Windows. Originally for text editors. Also handled by other programs. FAL structure is typical of raster images. FAL extension found in other file types, may not be supported by text editors.
To open image, place FAL and RGB files together. XnViewMP uses FAL header info to open RGB image. It opens over 400 formats. Other programs reference or open FAL files. Need appropriate program supporting FAL to open it. Here is list of programs supporting FAL files.
