EXD is a file extension for Control Information Cache Format files. The format is compatible with Windows software. EXD files belong to the Misc Files category. Users can manage EXD files with Microsoft Visual Studio although other programs open them too. EXD files appear in Windows operating systems. They associate most with Microsoft Office.
The issue is EXD files open incorrectly. This causes errors that there is no program associated to open them. To fix this, double-click the EXD file. Then choose another app to open it and check “Always use”. You can also associate EXD with the right application in Windows Registry.
To check if your EXD file is corrupted, download it again and scan with virustotal.com. You may need to update the software you use to open EXD files too. Only the newest versions work with the current EXD format.
If it still won’t open, check the file extension again. Other programs use EXD files saved as XML. Renaming to XML may let you open it. EXD extensions resemble ESD, EXE and HXD files too. Make sure you have identified the file extension properly.
If it contains only text, many files open with simple text readers. To associate EXD with a program through Windows: Right-click the EXD file, choose “Open with” and select the program. Then check “Always use this app”.
