The DVDMEDIA file extension is used in Mac OS X operating system. It is associated with RipIt, a DVD ripping tool. RipIt creates backup discs called DVDMEDIA files. This allows playing the files in Apple DVD Player without a disc if the original is lost.
RipIt was developed by The Little App Factory Pty, Ltd. The DVDMEDIA file contains audio, video, and multimedia data from a DVD. Compatible programs like VLC media player and Apple DVD Player can open DVDMEDIA files.
To export a DVDMEDIA file in the standard DVD format for burning, either uncheck “use .dvdmedia extension” option in RipIt before ripping or right-click the file and select Show Package Contents. Then the file can be burned using other DVD burning software.
The DVDMEDIA file extension is also found in 546 other file types unrelated to RipIt. Some programs may only open DVDMEDIA files while others can convert them to different formats. When trying to open a DVDMEDIA file, first double-click the file. If the operating system has the right program and association, the file will open.
