To open a DFC file use Defractor in Windows. Select File → Open Instrument.
To convert a DFC file to Defractor Enhanced Instrument (DF2) format, select File → Save Instrument. Choose “Defractor Enhanced Instrument” from the “Save as type” menu and click Save.
These .dfc files are created by the Defractor software. This is a free synthesizer application with specifications for audio sampling and playback. These include mathematically generated waveforms, oscillators, envelope generators, filters, and audio effects.
The file extension specifies how information is encoded for storage. Formats may be proprietary or free, unpublished or open.
