The CUIX file extension is used for AutoCAD Custom User Interface files. These files contain custom settings for the AutoCAD user interface, like toolbars, menus, and keyboard shortcuts. The default CUIX file loaded in AutoCAD is acad.cuix. CUIX files replaced older .CUI, .MNU, and .MNS files in AutoCAD 2010. They use XML and image files packaged together.
To open CUIX files requires AutoCAD software from Autodesk. Some ways CUIX files improve productivity are customizing commands and toolbars and automating repetitive tasks. When double-clicked in Windows, CUIX files open in AutoCAD if installed. Otherwise, Windows does not recognize the file type.
The CUIX file icon shows the AutoCAD association. AutoCAD loads default settings from acad.cuix on startup. Users can configure interface elements like menus in the CUI editor and save the customization to a CUIX file. Other programs cannot open CUIX files.
