Users import GIF, JPG or BMP files into Navigator using the ChartMaker tool. The images are scans of paper cards. The .cid extension is used to store chart image descriptions.
CID files contain the chart image name, description, reference points defining pixels, a signature, and limits. Raster chart images come from paper chart scans in GIF, JPEG or BMP formats.
To open an unknown CID file, double click it to launch the application. If you get an error, look for an application which opens CID files. If you know the application, run it and see if there is a File – Open menu option.
