A .BRD file stores printed circuit board designs made with Cadence Allegro PCB Designer. Cadence Allegro is a program for designing, analyzing, and simulating printed circuit boards. This CAD program is used by electrical engineers to prototype PCBs. The Cadence Allegro Free Physical Viewer can view BRD files. This viewer is free software from the Cadence website.
The Altium Designer software also designs and analyzes printed circuit boards. One file type Altium uses is the BRD format. This saves printed circuit board layouts created in Altium. Like Cadence Allegro, Altium Designer falls under the CAD software category.
