Files with the bpk extension are public keys for verifying Nero burned discs, created by the Nero SecurDisc program. The BPK file format has one main file type: the Nero SecurDisc Public Key. BPK files are encoded files that can be opened with Nero AG’s Nero 2017 software or the SecurDisc Viewer. Nero SecurDisc provides data protection and content access control on CD/DVD/Blu-ray discs. The BPK file contains a public key to verify the source and contents of a burned disc. BPK files are often distributed by disc authors so users can authenticate discs.
The Nero SecurDisc Viewer application, distributed by Nero AG, verifies SecurDisc contents. The viewer was included with Nero burning software but is now discontinued. BPK files are most common in China on Windows 10 devices viewed via Chrome. Nero AG developed the dominant software that opens BPK files: Nero 2017. Alternative programs are SecurDisc Viewer and plain SecurDisc.
A common BPK issue is that Windows doesn’t associate BPK with the right program. Download and install software that handles BPK. Not all software can perform all operations on BPK files. Some may only open or view BPK. Others may convert BPK to other formats. To open a BPK file in Windows, right-click it, choose Open With, and select an application. Know that various programs use the BPK extension, not just Nero products.
