Set location for files in Tools, Options, File Locations. Default locations: Windows 8/11: User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles, Vista/7: User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word, XP: User\Application Data\Microsoft\Word.
To open select File, Open. Choose “Recover Unsaved Documents” and the file. Open Word file from asd: Step 1. Install Word. Step 2. Update Word. ASD files remain available to recreate lost documents.
