A .dsl file contains a list of damaged sectors, often from a DVD. It is created by some DVD rippers. For example, MacTheRipper uses the DSL format for damaged sector lists when ripping DVDs. You may find a .dsl file next to the VIDEO_TS file after ripping a DVD.
To open a .dsl file, you can compile it into a Lingvo Dictionary Data (LSD) file. First create a plain text file with DSL formatting. Rename it with the “.dsl” extension. Then use the DSL Compiler in the Lingvo Dictionary software to compile the DSL file into a LSD file.
The .dsl file extension falls under the Misc Files category. It may not be supported by MacTheRipper or similar programs. The DSL file format was developed by MacUpdate LLC.
