The PC7 file extension is created by Engineered Software for the PowerCADD 7 Drawing File format. This CAD drawing format is used to store 2D drawings created with PowerCADD 7, an architecture and design program for Mac. The “.pc7” extension may not be added by default, but can be manually added by the user.
To open a .pc7 file, the PowerCADD application is required. If you have problems opening these files, you may need to update PowerCADD to the latest version for full .pc7 format support. Also check the file for viruses.
If PowerCADD does not automatically open .pc7 files after an update, you can manually associate the two within your operating system. On Windows, right-click any .pc7 file, choose “Open with” and select PowerCADD. On Mac, right-click the file, choose “Open with” then select PowerCADD and enable “Always Open With”.
Be aware that other programs may use the .pc7 extension as well, not just PowerCADD files. Some of these could contain malware. If dealing with an unknown .pc7 file, open it cautiously.
It’s important the filename extension matches the file content. The .pc7 extension informs the operating system which software should open it. Many programs can open .pc7 files, with PowerCADD being the official and most common tool.
