BSB is a file extension for MapInfo Sea Chart Format files defined by Pitney Bowes Software Inc. BSB files contain saved sea charts data produced by the MapInfo program. These navigation maps and charts can usually be exported as TIFF images or other GPS chart formats.
BSB files are supported by Windows applications. MapInfo software is advised for managing BSB files, although other programs can also handle this file type. The BSB file format belongs to the Data Files category along with 1326 other formats.
There are three file types associated with the BSB extension. The most widely-observed is the BioShock Saved Game File format, viewable using the BioShock software application developed by Take-Two Interactive. Although generally categorized as Game Files, BSB files can also be GIS or Data Files. Windows, Mac and iOS operating systems support viewing BSB files.
To open, view or convert BSB files, use the MapInfo program that originally produced them. The BSB format description is proprietary and not publicly available. Other tools exist for working with BSB files, including BSB file openers and converters. However, 1326 file types use the BSB extension so files may not always be compatible between programs.
