The DM4 file format supports spectrum images. DM4 files can have much larger sizes than DM3 files as a result. Open DM4 files with Gatan DigitalMicrograph on Windows. Also open with ImageJ using the Bio Formats plug-in on various platforms. Be cautious of unknown .dm4 files. They may contain harmful software or malware. Check if the file extension is misspelled, like cm4 or dl4. Visit the Gatan website for more on the DM4 format. The DM4 file is a Gatan DigitalMicrograph 4 image. It is used by that program for transmission electron microscopy. The DM4 format contains metadata plus the image. It succeeded the DM3 format. DM4 files start with the big-endian version number 00 00 00 04.
