UZIP is a file extension for FreeBSD Compressed Disk Image files. The format was created by Maxim Sobolev. UZIP files are supported by Linux software. The most popular UZIP file handling program is mkuzip. There are 2 different programs that support this format.
We have free online UZIP file tools and apps. These allow viewing, editing, converting, merging, splitting, and comparing UZIP files without installing anything. Please click the links to see details.
UZIP files may use the .UFS.UZIP extension. They are binary format files.
Tips on opening UZIP files are below. Also a list of programs supporting them. UZIP files store compressed disk images made by the FreeBSD mkuzip utility. This compresses UFS files to reduce size. UZIP files need more computing power than regular UFS files.
To open a UZIP file on your PC, double-click it. If set up correctly, an application like WinZip will open it. You may need to download or purchase WinZip first.
Select and install a UZIP supporting program from the list. Then associate it with the UZIP file extension. Right-click the UZIP file and select “Open with”>”Choose another app”. Now select the program and check “Always use this app”.
