Files with .cdoc suffix are usually DigiDoc container data files. Use DigiDoc Client to open and work with them. The cdoc file format cannot be exported.
A .cdoc file contains encrypted data – an XML, DOC, XLS, PDF etc. – encrypted with the AES-128 algorithm. It also includes the encrypted key to decrypt the data file, recipient certificate, and metadata. Developed by the Information System Authority of Estonia, .cdoc is one of three DigiDoc digital signature and encryption formats.
The encrypted DigiDoc .cdoc file format is based on the XML-ENC standard. It can have multiple recipient certificates and keys to allow several potential decrypters. We also have free online .cdoc apps to view, edit, convert, merge, split, and compare without installing anything.
DigiDoc Client is Windows software allowing digital signatures and encryption/decryption per standards. It is the default to open .cdoc files. If it does not open them, set the association manually – right click on a .cdoc file, select Properties, and associate it with DigiDoc Client.
The .cdoc encryption format belongs to the “Encrypted Files” group. Primarily associated with the Estonian eID Smart Card and DigiDoc system for sharing signed documents. The CDox software can handle .cdoc files, which often contain encrypted XML documents or multiple original files.
After double clicking an unknown .cdoc file icon, the system should open it in DigiDoc Client. If not, install DigiDoc Client and manually associate .cdoc files with it.
