When players download Submachine Universe game, they get a zip file. This zip file has a note from developer, the game file (.exe), an intro animation (.swf), and a folder (SUB_LOC). The SUB_LOC folder has SUB_LOC files. Each SUB_LOC file matches a location in the game. NOTE: For the game to work properly, the SUB_LOC folder and files must be in the same folder as the game file.
SUB_LOC files are not regular SWF files. So they can’t play in Flash Player or similar programs. Currently, only Submachine Universe opens SUB_LOC files.
When you double-click a file, Windows checks the extension. If Windows knows the extension, it opens the file in the matched program. If not, you get a message to select an app for the file. To open an unknown file: Right-click the file. Select “Open with” from the menu.
Sometimes a file extension gets misspelled or changed by accident. This makes the file not recognizable. Be careful with SUB_LOC files. A SUB_LOC file might have a virus. You may want to scan any .sub_loc file before opening.
The .SUB_LOC extension is for Submachine Universe Location files. Mateusz Skutnik developed these game-related files. Currently no software opens .sub_loc files on any platform.
We haven’t found software for this extension yet, but we’re working on it!
