The SEF file contains digital signature data. It is created by Encryptafile software after signing a file. It verifies the identity of an Encryptafile EFL file. The signature may be stored in a digital envelope. SEF files are used by Encryptafile on Windows. Encryptafile supports secret-key and public-key encryption.
SEF files can store passwords created by Steganos software. The passwords are very strong. They are automatically entered when logging into online accounts. Steganos software also uses the SEF file extension.
Other software may also use the .sef extension. We do not have helpful information about other uses. It is possible the file extension could be misspelled.
Programs that open or reference SEF files include Encryptafile and Steganos software. We also have free online SEF file tools. They allow viewing, editing, converting, merging, splitting, and comparing SEF files without installing anything.
