2 file types use .tbd extension. Visual Studio Toolbox Data File and Apple Xcode Text-based Definition File. The tbd file extension relates to Microsoft Visual Studio, an integrated development environment. The tbd file stores Visual Studio data. The Toolbox displays icons you add to projects. Tbd files hide in Windows Explorer. Show hidden files by checking “Hidden Items” in View menu. Tbd files become visible. Programs opening tbd files associate with Visual Studio. The tbd file extension associates with Microsoft Visual Studio for Windows, Windows Phone and web apps. The tbd file stores Visual Studio data. Microsoft Visual Studio displays icons in the Toolbox you add to projects. You cannot convert tbd files.
To make .tbd files, use Apple Xcode or software below from official stores. You can also get .tbd creators from their websites. File extension TBD has unique Visual Studio file format and associates with Dansk System Industr Office Suite File. Tbd files are mobile and desktop friendly with a “High” Popularity Rating, meaning they routinely occur on most devices. We explain tbd files and recommend software that opens them.

A .tbd file is an Xcode text-based definition data file. These files relate to Apple’s Xcode, a suite of development tools for Mac OS X and iOS. The .tbd format provides a compact description of dynamic library contents to minimize SDK download size. Written in YAML format, .tbd “stub libraries” reference binaries like .dylib files without including large binaries directly. Instead, .tbd files contain metadata like architectures, platform, install name, current/compatibility versions, and exported symbols. Located in Xcode application bundles, .tbd files describe binaries for platforms like MacOSX, iPhoneOS, AppleTVOS, and WatchOS. While not intended for editing, the text-based .tbd format allows viewing file contents in text editors. The tapi tool creates and edits these stub library files, with “tapi” meaning “text-based API” – an alternate name for the .tbd format. The two-level Mach-O namespace uses stub libraries and the .tbd extension to optimize linking large binaries.
