ORC is an audio file created by Voyetra Digital Orchestrator. It is used for saving musical compositions and can include multiple tracks with MIDI instruments and imported audio. The Digital Orchestrator software has been discontinued.
The Optimized Row Columnar (ORC) file format stores Hive data efficiently. It overcomes limitations of other Hive formats. ORC files improve performance when Hive reads, writes, and processes data. Compared to RCFile, ORC has advantages like: outputting each task to a single file to reduce NameNode load, and support for Hive data types including datetime, decimal, complex types like structs, lists, maps and unions.
CSound uses a “*.SCO” (Score) file to define notes played on instruments defined in the “*.ORC” (Orchestra) file. The ORC file format is classified as Audio.
