What Is an ACCDR File? A file with the .accdr extension is a Microsoft Access runtime application file. It is a read-only, locked-down version of an .accdb file. In runtime mode, certain Access features aren’t available by default.
The .accdr file is created from an .accdb file. By changing the extension to .accdr, Access opens the database in runtime mode. In runtime mode it is read-only. To restore read-write access, rename the extension back to .accdb.
ACCDR files have the same structure as ACCDB files. But ACCDR files cannot be updated. They are read-only databases. Microsoft Access can also create ACCDB, ACCDC and ACCDT database files.
To open an .accdr file you need to install the appropriate program. Compatible programs are available for Windows, Mac OS and Linux. Examples are Microsoft Access and Office 365. ACCDR files store data like database files.
If you have problems opening an .accdr file, you may need to update your software. Only the latest versions support the current .accdr format. Or the .accdr file itself may be corrupted. Try downloading it again if available.
