An EVRC file contains a human voice recording or ringtone from a cellular phone. EVRC files are audio files saved in the Enhanced Variable Rate Codec format used by code-division multiple access networks in mobile phone standards. The EVRC file extension is supported on Windows operating systems. To open an EVRC file on Windows, right click on the file and click “Open with” then “Choose another app”. QuickTime Player software created by Apple, Inc. is recommended for managing EVRC files. EVRC has three versions – EVRC, EVRC-A, EVRC-B and EVRC-NW – with expanding capabilities and usage. Conceived by the Telecommunications Industry Association, EVRC files are used for compressed audio data and voice recording in wireless telecommunication instruments. As EVRC voice codec has been replaced in cell phones, you probably won’t find the file type anymore. It was replaced by Selectable Mode Vocoder and 4GV.
